Norwex Window Cloth Review

Norwex Window Cloth and EnviroCloth sample.

I was hesitant to try Norwex products, so I signed up for some free samples. The purple cloth above is a Window Cloth sample and the grey cloth is an EnviroCloth sample. I chose to use the samples on a mirror in my room, which gets dirty daily as my son leaves beautiful artwork when rubbing his face all over it or licking it. I wanted to see if Norwex was up to the task of removing the beautiful swirls and smears so my son would have a fresh canvas to work with once again.

In all seriousness, however, I found the cloths to be quite effective. It took some extra work to produce the results I was looking for as the samples are quite small, but it gave me an initial idea of how the products work.

The first step is to dampen the EnviroCloth with water. You then wipe down the mirror to get most of the dirt and grime off. The next step is to use a dry window cloth to pick-up any remaining muck on the surface as well as buff it to give it a streak-free appearance.

I made the mistake of using the window cloth wet when I first used the samples. However, I have since had the opportunity to use the damp EnviroCloth followed by the dry Window Cloth. The results are much cleaner and quicker. When I had used the Window Cloth wet, it didn't pick up as much of the grime that remained as it did when I used it dry. In addition, there was moisture left behind when I had used the cloth wet. When using the Window Cloth dry as a follow-up to the EnvroCloth, it leaves a streak free, polished look.

The before and after pictures I will share aren't a true reflection of the full product ability as I didn't use the second cloth as a dry one for my first experiment. I tried to follow-up with a paper towel afterwards due the excess moisture, but the paper towels left lint. I should have used a dry Norwex cloth of some kind to follow-up, but didn't have one clean. And, like I said, the samples were so small it was hard to work with them fully. I do appreciate the samples, though, as it does give you an idea of how they work.

"Before" Dirty Mirror

After Using EnviroCloth & Window Cloth

I have since had the opportunity to use the full EnviroCloth and Window Cloth versions. I was hesitant of the product due to my first experience and not using the Window Cloth dry, but now I'm amazed at how efficient these two cloths are together on windows and mirrors. It's so fast to use the cloths and amazing how easy it is. Just a quick wipe down with both cloths, and the job is complete. In addition, I feel good knowing that no chemicals are used on the mirrors or windows. My son and the animals in the house will inevitably rub their faces on surfaces again, and it will be great that they aren't picking up any chemicals sprayed on the glass.

I will note that there are certain instances where you can use the Window Cloth wet, but for me I find the wet EnviroCloth followed by the dry Window Cloth for buffing afterward leads to the best results on mirrors and windows. It is also the smoothest, easiest method for cleaning, in my opinion.

However, some people prefer to do a light mist on their windows and then use the Window Cloth to clean-up, so that's an option as well. I know what works for me now, but everyone is different. It's a bit of an experiment to see what works for your household, but the learning curve is easy and intuitive. It's a bit weird not using cleaners after using them for so long, but I am sold on this new method and will continue to use it. And with that, I recommend that you give this cloth combo a try!

Norwex Body Cloth Review

Norwex Body Cloths (Graphite and Teal/Vanilla Stripes)

I have returned once again to this blog after some time away. It’s a current goal of mine to be more consistent with my writing. Today I’m going to talk about a Norwex product I enjoy using frequently. I’m a fan of using cloth products, and I’m excited to share my experience with the body cloth.

I had heard of Norwex before, but I hadn’t paid much attention to the company until a friend of mine became a consultant. Even then, I was hesitant about the products. I wasn’t impressed with microfiber in the past, and Norwex is all about microfiber, though I’d never tried Norwex cloths specifically. I was also hesitant about looking into Norwex as they use a multilevel marketing strategy (MLM). I’m not a huge fan of MLMs, and I tend to shy away from MLM company type parties I’m invited too. However, in an effort to support my friend, I put all of these thoughts aside and began to go to her for questions.

To start, I joined my friend’s online Norwex group and engaged in her posts. She had a contest at one point, and I ended up winning a Norwex body cloth by being the person that answered the most questions correctly in a questionnaire educating on Norwex products. I was still skeptical, but excited to try a new product. I also signed up to receive samples of an EnviroCloth and Window Cloth, but I will review those in a later blog post.

I am happy to say that I fell in love with the body cloth! It truly is an amazing, quality product. It’s the type of product that fits my life style well. Even though it’s cheesy to say, it’s the product I needed that I didn’t even know I was looking for.

Due to my disabilities, showering is difficult. Even with the assistance of a shower chair, I can’t shower daily without impacting my routine as shower time equals recovery time afterwards. However, I still like to freshen up on non-shower days. My method prior to the body cloth was to use a cotton cloth wipe to clean my face with just water. Then I used a soapy cloth, followed with a rinse cloth, on any areas of my body I felt needed cleansing. There was nothing wrong with this method, but it wasn’t as quick as I’d like. For this reason, I was thinking of purchasing disposable cleansing wipes to use on days I had low energy. However, I try to avoid disposable products whenever possible and decided not to go that route.

In comes the body cloth! When I first used it, I used it as a face cloth. I only had one at the time, and I like to keep face and body cloths separate. However, I was excited the first time I used it. One of the things I liked was that my face dried faster after cleansing. Cotton cloths hold onto water more when they are damp whereas the microfiber body cloth can wring out much better and not hold onto as much liquid. This meant my face dried faster after cleansing, and I could use moisturizer sooner and get my glasses back on. Efficiency for the win!

Efficiency is quite important to me as there are many tasks I have to complete each day for maintaining functionality with my chronic health conditions. Anything that assists me in cutting time in my routine is a win. It allows me to focus on what’s most important in life, like my family.

Before I used the body cloth, I would use a new cotton cloth each day to wash my face. With the body cloth, I wash it every 1-2 weeks as it is designed to inhibit the growth of bacteria. This means washing laundry less often. Yay!

In addition, I feel like the body cloth removes more oils from my skin than a cotton cloth. It seems more efficient at the cleansing process. I tend to have dry skin, but it helps to exfoliate a bit and remove any excess oils that may be present. I do, however, always moisturize afterwards, as I did when I used cotton cloths. The body cloth has two different textured sides. One for everyday cleansing and one for exfoliating as needed.

I have since purchased a set of body cloths from Norwex after I won the standard grey body cloth. I purchased a set of blue and wipe striped cloths. They came in packs of three.

There is a difference between the grey cloths and the colored cloths with the stripes. The striped ones are a bit fluffier and the way the different colored rows are sewed together makes the cloth more raised on one side. However, I like both cloths. The striped ones feel a bit more luxurious and spa-like simply due to the extra fluff and the choice in colors. I like having different colors so I have one hanging for washing my face and one hanging for washing my body. I personally like to use the grey one for my face and the fluffy, striped one for my body.

I was a bit skeptical about cleaning my body with just water and a cloth, but it actually works. I still use soap in the bath on my shower days, but on non-shower days I wet my body cloth and do my cleansing routine. On days I am unable to shower, I use it to wipe away sweat after I exercise and then I put on a fresh set of clothes. I do the arm-pit sniff test and there is no stickiness or stink after washing with the body cloth.

All I do after using the cloths is rinse them out and hang them to dry. I’ll reuse them again until laundry day. The care tag on the back can also be used as a hook for hanging the cloths to dry. They are easy to use, and I recommend them to anyone who wants a product like this to complement their cleansing routine.

Garden Series 2015-2016

Gardening almost didn't happen over the summer. In fact, without the magic of nature, it never would have happened!

My husband and I planted nothing in 2015, with the exception of an onion that I planted upside down by accident. The onion never had a chance! However, it just so happened that our basil plants seeded and landed in fertile soil at the end of the 2014 planting season. We were excited to see about three basil plants pop up over the summer! They survived despite only being watered by the rain for a period of time. Nature doesn't always need our help like we think it does!

The basil plants came in handy for a tomato basil chicken dish that was cooked on more than one occasion. I love the aromatic spicy, mint smell of basil straight from the garden. The soft, tangy sweet fluff is even better to eat! Marinated with garlic and tomato juices, it's almost heavenly. I'm grateful that we didn't miss out on such a delicious treat over the summer!

One handy trick for adding some green to your kitchen throughout the seasons, is to save the ends of green onions. Chop the onions near the base of the plant, leaving about three inches remaining. Place them in a small dish and put them near a sunny window. You may notice them sprout up a little later in the day or by the next morning at the latest. This of course depends on the time of day and the amount of light available.

Ideally, you'll want to plant the onions in a pot with soil. You can continue to cut them down and enjoy them longer this way. However, simply left in water, you can cut them and regrow them up to three times before the roots get too nasty. The disadvantage to this is that the onions grow back a little thinner each time. I don't mind this as long as I can get more than one use out of the plant. It's nice to have some easy access to fresh onions for snipping into dishes!

I like to start the onions off in a small dish when they first start growing again.

As they grow larger I move them to a glass mason jar.

The onions are in the kitchen window for lighting and easy access to prep meals.

I missed having fresh basil and couldn't find cut plants at the grocery store, so we ended up with a potted plant. Despite the fact that Maryland is still dealing with snow from a blizzard that began on Friday, my kitchen still has splashes of green and hope for spring!

I also have a bamboo plant and an orchid hanging out in my kitchen. Sadly, I cannot eat those, but they are still beautiful to look at!
